The EIA continues its Research Paper Series with the publication of “Taiwanese Medical and Security Policy Towards the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Best Practice“, by Yi Chen Chang. The author, a student of international security with experience in both Taiwan and Europe, outlines Taiwan’s extraordinary performance in the fight against COVID-19 in a clear and concise manner. She highlights the factors that contributed to Taiwan’s successful efforts to stave off the disease, while also indicating ongoing setbacks and shortcomings in the island nation’s unique approach to this critical threat. This paper contributes to the literature on national public health measures at a time of crisis, within a democratic political context. It can be accessed here.[pdf]
